A Fresh Start to 2026: Highlights from the 338th Fuchu Toastmasters Club Meeting

On Sunday, January 4, 2026, the 338th English meeting of Fuchu Toastmasters Club was held in a hybrid format at Fuchu Community Center “Platz” and online.
It was a perfect way to start the new year—with learning, inspiration, and warm camaraderie.

Inspiring Prepared Speeches

One of the highlights of the meeting was TM K.Y’s speech,
“The Blue Silk Road and the Story of Suzani.”

As part of the Pathways Level 3–4 project Creating Effective Visual Aids, she skillfully combined visuals with storytelling to bring the history of the Silk Road and Suzani embroidery to life.
Her engaging presentation earned her the Best Speaker Award.

Another memorable speech was delivered by TM H.M, titled
“Could Humans Fight Back Against AI in 2026?”
This thought-provoking topic sparked strong audience interest and an active Q&A session.

Table Topics: Celebrating Oshougatsu

The Table Topics session focused on Oshougatsu (Japanese New Year).
Members shared short impromptu speeches about:

・Their childhood New Year memories

・How they spent their Otoshidama

・Favorite foods during the holidays

The session was filled with laughter, nostalgia, and cultural insights.

Supportive and Insightful Evaluations

During the evaluation session, speakers received constructive feedback highlighting both strengths and practical suggestions for improvement.
The atmosphere truly reflected the club motto:

“Let’s practice! It’s OK to make many mistakes!”

Evaluations were encouraging, specific, and focused on growth.

魅力あふれる準備スピーチ

今回の例会で特に印象的だったのは、TM K.Yさんによる
「The Blue Silk Road and the Story of Suzani」。

Pathways Level 3–4「Creating Effective Visual Aids」のプロジェクトとして、視覚資料を効果的に活用しながら、シルクロードとスザニ刺繍の物語を生き生きと描き出しました。ストーリーとビジュアルが美しく調和したスピーチは、Best Speakerに選ばれました。

また、TM H.Mさんの
**「Could Humans Fight Back Against AI in 2026?」**も大きな注目を集めました。
AIという現代的なテーマを扱い、聴衆に問いを投げかける構成で、活発なQ&Aが行われました。

お正月テーマで盛り上がったテーブルトピックス

テーブルトピックスでは、「お正月」をテーマに即興スピーチが行われました。

・子どもの頃のお正月の思い出

・お年玉で一番嬉しかったこと

・お正月に食べた料理

など、日本文化を感じられる話題が続き、会場は終始和やかな雰囲気に包まれました。

論評セッションでは、各スピーカーに対して

次につながる具体的な改善提案

が丁寧に伝えられました。
クラブモットーである
